Trade Sprewell

After licking my wounds of the Twins loss to the Yanks, it's time to get back to business. Let's start with the T-wolves. If Latrell wants to extend his contract, and wants it done quickly, which means he will at least get $16.4 million for 2005-06, trade him, after we see that Hudson is healthy, and when we see that Wally Szczerbiak means business and will be a permanent starter. Spree will be 35 and is getting more streaky with his shooting. We will already have a 36 year old in Sam Cassell, so let's not mortgage the future. We can get Eddie Griffin at about 10 years younger and about 12 million cheaper. Fred, Trenton, and the rest of the bench are fighting for minutes already, so let him fly.

The amazing Gophers beat hapless Illinois, 45-0. They did this before 45,000+ fans. Sid Hartman wonders why the fans do not come to the games. Well, if they would not choke for the big ones, the Michigan and Michigan State games, they would get them to come.

Just win the big game once.

Twin Meltdown

Yea it happened. Not much to say. I've been on teams that had it and lost it. Not much to say. Lick the wounds and forget. Koskie probably had his last game as a Twinkie. One last year for this team to win it, then it's splitsville. These young players are gonna comand a pile of money. Radtke is gone. Maybe to the Yanks.

Gophers lost. The Wolverines are just like the Yanks. What can you say. Hope we still go 10-1.

Winters coming.

Kevin Brown?

So why do I say that Kevin Brown is a big time pitcher? Well, ever since 1965 I have been a die hard fan of the Twins and the Dodgers. I probably go back further with the Dodgers because of my older brothers. Whenever they got a Dodger in their packs of baseball cards, it was like winning a modern day lottery. Koufax and Drysdale could have been president and vice-president. We did name a coulple of milk cows after them. And it was no coincedence that I had the number 53 on all my uniforms. Didn't make any differance that I was a foot shorter than him, He and I were two tough SOB's.

So since I know the Dodgers also, it just so happens that I know Kevin Brown is a gamer. Just as Mickey Hatcher was a gamer. Best #2 hitter the Twins have had in last 25 years. Well anyhow, I am not saying the Yanks are gonna take it, but it looks like it's gonna be all on the old veteran, Brad Radke. The second gun. Another Don Drysdale.

So look for Brown to pitch a gem in game 3, Santana in game 4, and Radke in the game of his career.

Sorry, no post until Sunday evening at the earliest.

$$$$$$

George Steinbrenner has had sand kicked in his face many a time for spending the buck to get top stars to pay in pinstripes. It has backfired a few times, with failed seasons and much lip by major league baseball fans. Well, his money players came through on Wednesday night at the Bronx. Alex and Gary came through in the pinch, downing the Twins in extra innings 6-5.

As I said yesterday, the Twins needed to go up 2-0 to win this series. They didn't, and they won't. Kevin Brown is a big time pitcher, and will prove it on Friday. I am sorry to say that it's over. Hail to the Yanks.

Twins ambush Yanks

Once again good pitching beats good hitting, at least for a day. Johann Santana was not at his best, but the rest of the starters were, as 5 double plays upstaged the seemingly uninterested Yanks. Maybe it's just me, but it appears that the Yanks are not to worried about the Twins just yet. And for good reason.

Although the Twins showed more emotion, power and perfection, the field will not be even until they go 2-0 this series. The Yanks are for real, have all the tools, and can turn it on at will. And when Kevin Brown makes his appearance, it will be lights out for the Twins.

But maybe not. These pesky Twins have heart. Tori Hunter has them awake for these playoffs, unlike last year, and they have the Santana-Radke combo, reminding readers of this rag of Koufax-Drysdale. And they have a trump card- Koskie. He stirs the drink for this team.

Tonights game is on ESPN, which fits my home better than FOX. Even with cable, FOX comes in like it did on the farm in the late 60's, continous winter storms!
